Devin Tyler
Devin Tyler
Devin joined the band in 2010 as a member of the clarinet section. He quickly moved into the principal clarinet chair and led the section with amazing leadership and musicality. In 2018 Devin performed the solo feature clarinet in "Victor's Tale" from the motion picture The Terminal. He has also conducted the band and served for many years as a member of the Board.
In 2021, The Greater Forth Worth Community Band unanimously agreed to name the Principal Clarinet Chair after Devin, an honor he well deserved.
Devin lost his battle with cancer in February, 2022. We are deeply saddened by the loss of such a bright personality and talented musician. His legacy of excellence will continue to live on within the band.
In 2023 the Greater Fort Worth Community Band commissioned composer Kevin Day to create a work for solo clarinet and band in Devin's honor. The band premiered the piece titled Near Light at the annual Salute to Community Bands held on the campus of the University of Texas at Arlington on May 4, 2024.
Devin's family has requested donations to be made to the Greater Forth Worth Community Band in his honor. If you would like to donate, please click the button below.
